ABOUT RAY

From education to counselling

My working life has centred on people, learning and change.

As an educator and school principal, I spent many years alongside people navigating uncertainty, responsibility, conflict and transition. I completed a PhD in educational change, exploring how individuals and communities respond when established ways of thinking and working are challenged.

Over time, my interest increasingly turned toward the personal questions that can accompany change: how we decide what matters, how we respond when life does not unfold as expected and how we continue to act with purpose when circumstances cannot simply be resolved.

I completed a Diploma of Counselling and undertook further specialist study in Viktor E. Frankl’s Logotherapy. Since I first read his seminal book ‘Man’s Search for Meaning’, fifty years ago, I have been drawn to its respect for human freedom, responsibility, the individual search for meaning and the power of attitudinal change.

My approach is thoughtful and collaborative. I do not assume that I know what another person’s life should look like. Instead, I aim to create a place where you can speak openly, examine your situation carefully and consider the choices and possibilities that remain available to you.

Alongside Ray Daniels Counselling, I founded Third Chair Counselling, a dedicated service for people caring for someone living with dementia.
